A Time For Family and Friends – A Time To Act

We know that for many in the USA this week is a traditional holiday and that there are similar such holidays around the world. This particular holiday is usually a great gathering time in homes across America where some of us are able to sit down at the  table and enjoy a Blessing of Abundance. Unfortunately not everyone in the states will be able to fill their bellies with turkey, potatoes and gravy and so many wonderful desserts. Many in our country are homeless and hungry, just like our brothers and sisters in Europe, Asia and throughout the world.

It occurred to me this week that I am truly blessed although I don’t live in a penthouse nor do I drive a new Maybach and spend hundreds of dollars on my shoes. I am lucky to have grown up never to have missed a meal, never had to live on the streets and always had clean clothes upon my back. And yet so many in our country and on this planet are going to sleep tonight without having had breakfast, lunch or dinner at all. So, I started thinking about what I might be able to do with my own music and artwork as a means to bring some sort of hope and dignity back to others. We here at DGT are always volunteering for whatever the good cause is that is before us such as hurricane and earthquake relief and that is all good. But what might I do all year long to bring about change with my music and with the love, energies behind ?  I do not know the answer but rest assured I will seek it out and consult with all of our followers and every musician and band that I’ve come to know.

Perhaps we can all work together with our music, and with our Art and to initiate a new mission – one to help end hunger and homelessness.. A cause which will be driven daily toward a solution. No child, woman or man should go hungry or not have a safe, decent place to sleep, prepare food, to bathe and enjoy a more Human existence. It is our right. We are not primitive animals living in the dark and we must stop the fighting, bring the love and hope to this humanity one meal at a time.

Happy Thanksgiving

Pray for Japan

When the earthquakes of Chile and Haiti of this past year occurred, we at expressed or sympathies for the families of loved ones lost, and the empathy for the pain and suffering felt by their people. And again recently the good people of New Zealand experienced two devastating earthquakes which caused loss of life and terrible damage. Because of our nature as a music web-magazine, we intend to concentrate on the music of the world but that’s just it – music is the world ! Musicians and songwriters are among those who have lost so much in these catastrophes such as the flooding in Nashville Tennessee. Once again nature’s wrath has aimed her fury upon the earth to strike our friends and good worldly neighbors, Japan. And on this day- only a few from the initial impact we stand united with the rest of the world in shock.
No one could have prepared better for earthquakes or tsunami waves more than the Japanese citizens and her government yet no preparation was adequate for the mighty 8.9 earthquake in the Pacific Sea but only a few kilometers from inhabited near sea-level land, farms, towns and scores of people. Now in this hour we are told that a possible nuclear meltdown may occur in at least one or two energy plants and although the perimeter has been evacuated it is anyone’s guess how far the damages from this, the first nuclear accident since Chernobyl, might extend.
This is a time of dire need for the basics of life for the residents of Japan and we all know where we can contact agencies or groups who can help, but this is also a time for those of us of faith to pray for or otherwise send our healing energies to our Japanese brothers and sisters. That is all I ask of you dear readers. Just pray and offer positive love vibrations to those who have lost so much, and for those who have yet to lose. Play your music with passion. Write good songs and make this lesson of life and nature give you strength and clarity for your true purpose. Remember these hard times and that songwriters, singers, musicians and producers just like ourselves living abroad badly need our support. Long live the music and may the children soon sing happily once more.

As the following video shows. the devastation in Nashville following the traumatic flood earlier this month has left several dead, many animals perished or missing, thousands homeless, millions of dollars in damages and in addition, some of the finest musical instruments and amplifiers at Soundcheck totally demolished. We at damngoodtunes, especially including Eric Normand, will be covering this story and spreading the truth that the News Media of the USA has failed to report.
